Levaquin
Levaquin (levofloxacin) is prescribed for patients with infections of the kidneys, bladder, skin prostate etc. It is sometimes prescribed to treat bronchitis or pneumonia and can be recommended to people exposed to anthrax. In case your doctor prescribed you the liquid kind of this medicine make sure you ask your health care provider for a special measuring spoon to make sure you do not take more or less of Levaquin than necessary. In case of having heart rhythm disorder and receiving treatment for it with drugs such as quinidine, bretylium, amiodarone, disopyramide, sotalol or procainamide make sure you notify your health care provider. In case of being allergic to ciprofloxacin, lomefloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin or moxifloxacin you may not be able to take this medicine to avoid the same reaction from happening again. If you took this drug anyway you may experience the following symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, rash, trouble breathing, and swelling of you tongue, face and throat. One of the rare but serious side effects of taking Levaquin is tearing of the tendon. A tendon is special fiber that connects muscles to the bones. This serious side effect may occur if you are older than 60, have a kidney or heart transplant or are currently taking any steroid medications. The symptoms of tearing of the tendon include the feeling of stiffness, swelling, tenderness, sudden pain in any of your joints and trouble moving them. In that case you need plenty of rest and your health care provider must be contacted as soon as possible.
